Cameroon vs. Brazil - Betting tips, predictions, and odds
Cameroon is looking for an upset when they meet Brazil at Lusail Iconic Stadium in Round 3 of Group G at the FIFA World Cup. Here you can get the best Cameroon vs. Brazil betting tips and predictions.
H2H, form, and stats
Cameroon and Brazil have faced on five occasions so far. Two of those came at the World Cup and Brazil won each time; 3-0 in 1994 and 4-1 in 2014. In that H2H from 1994, the current head coach of Cameroon, Rigobert Song, received a straight red card. Brazil won four of five H2H duels overall, while Cameroon has one victory. The most recent meeting was in 2018, and Brazil secured a 1-0 win in a friendly. Richarlison scored the game’s only goal.
Cameroon was on brink of elimination but managed to come from two goals behind against Serbia and snatch a draw. After undeservedly losing 1-0 to Switzerland in Round 1, Les Lions Indomptables got an early lead against Serbia through Jean-Charles Castelletto, but Orlovi answered with two quick goals late in the first half.
Serbia then made it 3-1 and dominated on the pitch. At that moment, it was hard to imagine that the substitute Vincent Aboubakar is going to change the course of the game. In the space of just three minutes, Cameroon’s top scorer bagged a goal and registered an assist for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to make it 3-3.
They played for 30 more minutes but we saw no goals as it stayed 3-3 in one of the most entertaining matches of this World Cup. Cameroon is still without a victory in six games (D3, L3).
Brazil extended its unbeaten streak to 17 games after beating Switzerland 1-0 in Round 2. A Seleção is on a nine-game winning run during which they kept the net intact seven times and allowed just two goals, each time when they won 5-1 (South Korea and Tunisia). Following a boring display in the opening 45 minutes, Tite’s men switched to a higher gear in the final 15 minutes and scored a winner through Casimiro in the 83rd minute. Although they didn't dominate like against Serbia, the Brazilians did deserve to get three points and qualify for the Round of 16.
Injuries and squad news
Cameroon’s head coach Rigobert Song had a fallout with No. 1 goalkeeper Andre Onana after which Inter’s goalie decided to leave Qatar and go back to his homeland. That incident occurred on a matchday against Serbia, but it seemed that it didn't affect the rest of the squad. Devis Epassy will take a starting place between the sticks.
Brazil’s head coach Tite cannot count on Neymar (ankle), Danilo (ankle), and Alex Sandro (muscle). Neymar and Alex Sandor will be ready for the knockout stage, while Danilo is out for the rest of the tournament. Eder Militao played the right-back against Switzerland and could get another start on Friday, while Alex Telles will probably get a nod at the left-back. Tite may decide to mix his starting lineup a little bit, so expect to see some changes and minutes for the players who haven't participated in this World Cup yet.
Cameroon vs. Brazil Betting predictions and odds
Even though they already qualified for the Round of 16, Brazil is still a favorite at 1.35 odds. If you think Cameroon can make an upset, back Les Lions Indomptables at 8.60, while a draw is 4.96. When it comes to goals, Over 2.5 goals is 1.73 and Under 2.5 goals is at 2.10.
Our best tip for Cameroon vs. Brazil game
The Brazilians will be playing without any pressure and imperative to win, which can be rather dangerous for Cameroon. There are plenty of players who will want to show their worth to the head coach Tite and will be looking to impress him, and considering how many excellent players Tite has on his bench, it’s going to be a problem for Cameroon.
Even if he changes his entire starting XI, Brazil will be a massive favorite against Cameroon. We expect to see an entertaining duel with a lot of goals, probably three or four in Cameroon’s net alone. Cameroon’s defense is easily the weakest part of their team, while a backup goalkeeper Epassy is clearly the weakest link.
