Cameroon vs. Serbia - Betting tips, predictions, and odds
Round 2 of Group G at the FIFA World Cup will open with the clash between Cameroon and Serbia at Al Janoub Stadium. Here you can check out the best Cameroon vs. Serbia betting tips and predictions.
H2H, form, and stats
Cameroon and Serbia have met just once so far, and it was a friendly match back in 2010 when Serbia won 4-3.
Cameroon opened this World Cup with a 1-0 loss to Switzerland in a game that could easily finish without goals. Neither team deserved to win, but Switzerland was experienced enough to defend its minimal lead after scoring early in the second half. Les Lions Indomptables were better in the first half, but that is not a consolation for them after failing to win in the last five games (D2, L3). They failed to score more than a goal in that stretch.
Serbia didn't stand a chance against the No. 1 favorites at this World Cup, Brazil, and even failed to record a shot on target. Orlovi managed to neutralize Brazil in the opening half and hold the five-time World Cup winners to a 0-0 result, but the Brazilians showed class in the second 45 minutes and scored two goals through Richarlison to earn three points and win 2-0. It was Serbia’s first defeat in seven games (W5, D1).
Injuries and squad news
Cameroon’s head coach Rigobert Song doesn't have any injury-related problems, but he does face a selection dilemma in the attack. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting started against Switzerland and this time around, he may lose his place to the captain and top scorer of this generation - Vincent Aboubakar. Aboubakar played 16 minutes in the last game, and he will probably get more playing time against Serbia and a possible starting nod.
When it comes to Serbia, they will have more players at their disposal as some of them recovered from injuries and are ready to feature. Filip Kostić and Dušan Vlahović are match fit and will likely start. Meaning that head coach Dragan Stojković will change his formation from 5-4-1 to 3-5-2 with Mitrović and Vlahović upfront. Serbia is going for three points here, so a return to Stojković’s usual formation is on the cards.
Cameroon vs. Serbia Betting predictions and odds
The bookies are confident that Serbia will win this game despite a pale display against Brazil. In fact, the odds on Serbia winning lowered from 1.90 to 1.68, which means that the odds are now higher on Cameroon, so you can back the African side at 5.15, while a draw is at 3.74. The bettors who like backing goals can bet on Over 2.5 goals at 1.96, while Under 2.5 goals is at 1.84.
Our best tip for Cameroon vs. Serbia game
The quality, form, and experience are surely on Serbia’s side, so anything but three points for Orlovi would be surprising. Although pretty toothless against Brazil, this match against Cameroon is something completely different, and we’re sure Serbia will play the same way they played in the last two years when they impressed in the WC qualifications and UEFA Nations League. While the Cameroonians have a pacy and tricky attack, Serbia has two excellent strikers and is stronger in every part of the pitch, so we’re going with the favorites in this one.
