Denmark vs. Tunisia - Betting tips, predictions, and odds
Denmark and Tunisia will open Group D of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar with the game set to be played at Education City Stadium. Check out the best Denmark vs. Tunisia betting tips and predictions.
H2H, form, and stats
Denmark and Tunisia have met once before, and it was a friendly match in 2002 when Denmark won 2-1.
Denmark had an outstanding qualifying campaign and they entered the final round with a perfect record but lost to Scotland to finish with nine victories and a loss. In ten matches, the Red and Whites scored 30 and conceded just three goals, two of which came in that defeat to the Scots. Denmark also played very well in the UEFA Nations League but missed out on the top spot in their group as Croatia ended a point above. Still, the Danes managed to beat the reigning world champions, France, on two occasions.
Following an unsuccessful campaign at the AFCON, Tunisia qualified for the World Cup over two legs against Mali. Interestingly, the Tunisians didn't score a single goal in those two matches - the only goal was actually Mali’s own goal in the first leg. Recently, the Eagles of Carthage played a pair of friendlies against Comoros and Brazil. They beat Comoros 1-0 but then suffered a massive 5-1 defeat to the Brazilians.
Injuries and squad news
The Danish head coach Kasper Hjulmand will count on his three captains to take the team to the knockout stage at this World Cup. Simon Kjær, Christian Eriksen, and Kasper Schmeichel are undisputed leaders of this generation and they have astonishing 324 caps between them.
Kasper Dolberg, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and Thomas Delaney are also key players, while Hjulmand decided not to call Philip Billing and Jannik Vestergaard for this tournament. His decision to omit Billing, who is one of the best Bournemouth players this season, is a bit strange, but Vestergaard rarely played for Leicester City this year, so that move is understandable.
Jalel Kadri, the Tunisia head coach, has several experienced players who are playing in the European top leagues. Wahbi Khazri, who is the biggest star of this squad and the top goalscorer with 24 goals, is expected to show his quality in Qatar.
Captain Youssef Msakni, Naïm Sliti, Hannibal Mejbri, Ellyes Skhiri, and Dylan Bronn will be playing a key part in Tunisia’s quest for the knockout phase. It’s not going to be an easy task, though, because Tunisia never advanced from the group stage at World Cups in the previous five attempts.
Denmark - Tunisia Betting predictions and odds
Denmark is a firm favorite in this match, and the bookies are giving 1.45 odds on the Danish Dynamite to get three points here. If you want to back a surprise, you can do it at 7.70 on Tunisia’s victory, while a draw is at 4.25. When it comes to goals, you can bet on Over 2.5 goals at 2.12 and on Under 2.5 goals at 1.72.
Our best tip for Denmark vs. Tunisia game
We believe that Denmark is a better team and will open this tournament with three points in a bag, but betting on 1.45 odds is not something we’re interested in. Denmark rarely concedes goals, and Tunisia is not a high-scoring team, but this is the World Cup and anything can happen, so we must not underestimate the Eagles of Carthage. On the other hand, we’re pretty sure the Danes will score at least two goals here, something they managed to do in six of their previous eight matches.
Pick: Denmark to score Over 1.5 goals (1.76)
