England vs. USA - Betting tips, predictions, and odds
Round 2 of Group B at the FIFA World Cup will close with a meeting between England and USA at Al Bayt Stadium. Make sure you don't miss out on the best England vs. USA betting tips and predictions.
H2H, form, and stats
England and USA have met on five occasions before. Two of those H2H meetings took place at the World Cup, and interestingly, the Americans have a positive record (W1, D1). The other three were friendlies, all of which England won, including the most recent one in 2018 when it was 3-0 for the Three Lions.
England showed quality in its opening match of this World Cup with a massive 6-2 victory over Iran. The Persian Stars did hold the ground in the first 30 minutes, but England scored three goals in space of just 11 minutes and even created a bigger lead in the second half to celebrate a big win. Bukayo Saka was a man of the match with a pair of goals, while Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Jack Grealish also scored for Gareth Southgate's side. With this W, England snapped a six-game winless streak.
USA was close to getting three points in the opener against Wales, but a late penalty for the Dragons and Gareth Bale’s strike prevented the Yanks to secure a win. The Americans were a better team in the first half and managed to take a lead through Timothy Weah, but the situation changed in the second half and we could say it was a deserved share of points. The USA is without a win in the previous four games (D3, L1).
Injuries and squad news
Harry Maguire, probably the least popular player among England fans, sustained a head injury, and is unknown whether he’ll be able to feature against the USA. Eric Dier took his place in the heart of the defense and could start alongside John Stones if Maguire is unavailable. Harry Kane will be a player to watch in this one. The biggest favorite for a Golden Boot didn't have a single shot against Iran and is expected to score in this match. Kane did record a pair of assists as he served more like an advanced playmaker than a striker. Bellingham and Saka are also integral players for England and could continue with fine displays on Friday.
Christian Pulisic should be closely monitored by the English defenders after an excellent performance against Wales. Chelsea’s forward assisted the only goal of his team against Wales, but it seemed that he didn't have enough strength in the second half and had to go off. Pulisic will surely be highly motivated to impress against England, as he’s playing in the Premier League. Alongside Pulisic, Timothy Weah also can cause trouble to not-so-great England’s defense.
England vs. USA Betting predictions and odds
Following that dominant display by England against Iran, the bookmakers have lowered the odds a bit, so now you can back the Three Lions to win at 1.58 (previously was at 1.65). The USA to get three points can be found at 5.70, while a draw is at 4.08. It’s even when we talk about goals. Over 2.5 goals is at 1.90; the same as for Under 2.5 goals.
Our best tip for England vs. USA game
When we take a look at the USA defense, we’ll see that two of the back four are playing in Fulham, while the goalkeeper is actually a No. 2 choice at Arsenal. On the other side we have forwards from Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal combined in one squad, so our choice here is pretty straight - England will score at least two goals. The difference in class and quality is evident, and we’re sure the Three Lions will once again justify the role of favorites and get three points, which would pretty much secure a top spot in this group.
