Europa Conference League Final Betting Tips
The second-ever Europa Conference League final is upon us this Wednesday night as Fiorentina and West Ham United clash at the Eden Arena in Prague with both domestic seasons now over after the Serie A side defeated Sassuolo on Friday.
West Ham’s form in Europe over the past year has been incredible. Last campaign, the club made it to the Europa League semi-finals only to lose to Eintracht Frankfurt across two legs. This season in the Europa Conference League, however, the Hammers have been the best team around.
In fact, after winning all six group games and letting in just four goals and scoring 13 of their own, they comfortably finished far ahead of everyone in the group stages. West Ham did score one less goal than Fiorentina in the group stages, but the Serie A side lost and drew a game too, and therefore finished with five fewer points.
David Moyes' men would then go on to beat AEK Larnaca 6-0 across two legs in the round of 16 before beating Gent 5-2 in the quarter-finals saw Declan Rice put on a masterclass in a 4-1 win at home in the second leg.
The Premier League outfit would edge past AZ Alkmaar 3-1 in the semi-finals to reach their first European cup final since reaching the 1975/1976 European Cup Winners' Cup last two.
Back in the Premier League, however, West Ham lost 20 of the 38 games and scored only 42 times. What's more, after winning just 11 matches, the Hammers ended up finishing just six clear of the relegation zone.
As for Fiorentina, this is set to be their second major cup final of the season after losing to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final three weeks ago. The Florence outfit did take the lead after three minutes through Nicolas Gonzalez that day, but a Lautaro Martinez brace ended their dream of a first trophy since winning the Coppa Italia in 2000/01.
Fiorentina have lost three times in the Europa Conference League this season after a defeat in the second leg to Lech Poznan and a loss to Basel in the first leg of their semi-finals battle. They were also beaten 3-0 by Istanbul Basaksehir in the group stage.
The Serie A side are also heading into this one in great form since that Coppa Italia final defeat, as they eased past Sassuolo on the final day of the season thanks to goals from Arthur Cabral, Riccardo Saponara and Gonzalez.
