Netherlands vs Czech Republic
Netherlands vs Czech Republic takes place on June 27 in Budapest in the round of 16 of Euro2020. Netherlands qualified for the knockout stages with comparative ease, having won all three of their group games, scoring eight goals. They face a Czech Republic side who were beaten 1-0 by England at Wembley in their last game and who came through as one of the best third placed teams. Read on for more analysis, match predictions and betting tips.
Form
The Oranje showed their ruthless side in the final game of their group, crushing North Macedonia 3-0 in an easy victory in Amsterdam. Gini Wijnaldum continued to show Liverpool fans what they will be missing next season with another brace of goals to take him to three in the tournament while Barcelona-bound forward Memphis Depay grabbed the other. Frank de Boer’s side have won eight of their last ten internationals, scoring 29 times. There will be an expectation on them to continue that streak in this match.
The Czech Republic team couldn’t make it two upsets in a week in the UK, going down 1-0 to England at Wembley having beaten the Scots on their own turf in the first game of the group. The match was tense - not least because of the pressure on England to win - and it won’t have done much to give the Czech fans faith that they could win this tournament. The Czechs have only won three games this calendar year, and the win over Scotland was their only clean sheet in that stretch.

Injuries
Luuk de Jong has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament having picked up a knee injury. However, the Sevilla forward has only played ten minutes in two sub appearances so far and it’s possible his loss will not impact the Dutch side much. Frank de Boer chose to rest Atalanta midfielder Marten de Roon in the final group game so that he would be safe from suspension in this round; he should return in place of Ajax teenager Ryan Gravenberch.
Czech left-back Jan Boril will miss this game having picked up a second yellow card in the game against England. Hoffenheim full-back Pavel Kaderabek could slot into the left-back slot instead of Boril with no other obvious options at left-back for Jaroslav Silhavy. Patrick Schick is likely to continue as a lone striker, having scored three goals already in this tournament.
Match Predictions
It’s not hard to understand why Netherlands are the favourites in this game, with most bookies not offering more than 1.70 against a win for the Oranje. The bookies aren’t expecting a tight game either, with over 2.5 goals at 1.80 and BTTS: Yes available at around 1.75. This makes sense bearing in mind the number of goals that Netherlands are scoring recently but it’ll be interesting to see if the Czechs have anything to answer with. With good odds available in the handicap markets against a big Netherlands win, we think this is a good place to be looking for betting tips.
