Netherlands vs. Qatar - Betting tips, predictions, and odds
Netherlands and Qatar will face in the Round 3 tilt of Group A at the FIFA World Cup at Al Bayt Stadium. Here you can get the best Netherlands vs. Qatar betting tips and predictions.
H2H, form, and stats
It’s going to be the first-ever H2H between the Netherlands and Qatar.
The Netherlands had a bit of luck in the opener against Senegal as they scored a couple of late goals to win 2-0, although it was an undeserved victory. They had just one attempt on target in the Round 2 duel with Ecuador and scored from it through Cody Gakpo (his second goal in the tournament), but La Tricolor equalized and could even get three points. Once again, the Dutch team was lucky, and that could easily change in the knockout phase. Still, Louis van Gaal’s men are unbeaten in 17 matches (W12, D5), and that positive run will most probably extend after the game against Qatar.
Qatar improved from its opening 2-0 loss to Ecuador and managed to score the first-ever goal at the World Cup in a 3-1 loss to Senegal. The Maroons even had ten attempts at the goal, two of which were on target, while Mohammed Muntari will forever be remembered as the man who scored Qatar’s first goal at FWC. Qatar is eliminated from the competition, becoming the first team at this year’s WC to suffer a knockout.
Injuries and squad news
The Netherlands’ head coach Louis van Gaal doesn't have any injury-related concerns, and he’ll be happy to have Memphis Depay back after the forward returned from an injury. After featuring for around 30 minutes against Senegal, Depay played the entire second half against Ecuador and could start on Tuesday. However, van Gaal may opt to keep him on the bench because the opponent is not serious, so there is no need to risk his best player and top scorer of this generation. If Memphis sits this one out, Cody Gakpo and Steven Bergwijn will probably start in the attack.
Qatar’s Félix Sánchez cannot count on defender Bassam Al Rawi, who is unavailable for undisclosed reasons. Al Rawi did play 90 minutes against Ecuador but was out of the squad against Senegal. After scoring a goal in the previous game, Mohammed Muntari could get a start in the midfield in this one. Hassan Al-Haydos, Akram Afif, and Almoez Ali will lead the line.
Netherlands vs. Qatar Betting predictions and odds
The Dutch side is an absolute favorite in this encounter at 1.15 odds, so betting on them to win is out of the question. If you believe in miracles, you can back Qatar at 16.00, while a draw is 7.90. The bookmakers are offering 1.76 odds on Over 2.5 goals and 2.50 on Under 2.5 goals.
Our best tip for Netherlands vs. Qatar game
The Netherlands failed to impress so far in the tournament, and if they don’t improve soon, they will not get far at this World Cup. Still, the bracket is on the Netherlands’ side, and if they finish atop this group, they will have a solid chance to advance to the quarter-finals. Van Gaal’s team cannot be relaxed against Qatar, though, as they need a big victory to secure first place, in case Ecuador also defeats Senegal. Both Senegal and Ecuador beat Qatar by two goals margin, and we believe the Netherlands can score at least three after weak displays in the opening two rounds.
