Tunisia vs. Australia - Betting tips, predictions, and odds
Round 2 in Group D of the FIFA World Cup is opening with a meeting between Tunisia and Australia at Al Janoub Stadium. Make sure you don't miss out on the best Tunisia vs. France betting tips and predictions.
H2H, form, and stats
Tunisia and Australia have met just once before, and it was at the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2005 when Tunisia won 2-0.
Tunisia started this World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Denmark. Even though they were underdogs in this game, the Eagles of Carthage were closer to getting a win as they had more serious chances to score. Still, a point against Denmark is a success, and Tunisia will be looking for a win against Australia. They lost just one of the last ten matches (W6, D3) and it was a friendly against Brazil when A Seleção secured a massive 5-1 victory.
Australia succumbed to a disappointing 4-1 defeat against the holding World Cup champions France, although it started very well for the Aussies. They got to an early 1-0 lead through Craig Goodwin, but that was pretty much everything we saw from Australia in this game. France scored two goals in the space of five minutes to take a 2-1 lead at halftime and later added two more goals. Jackson Irvine could tie the score late in the first half, but his header hit a post. Australia had only four shots and one on target. After five consecutive wins, the Socceroos suffered their first defeat.
Injuries and squad news
Tunisia showed some solid skills and attacking plays against Denmark but lacked finishing, and head coach Jalel Kadri could give a chance to Wahbi Khazri, a top scorer of this team with 24 goals. Khazri hasn't scored for Montpellier since August and is not in good form, but he has been a talisman for his national squad, and is surely the best forward Kadri has at the moment. Naim Sliti could also start against Australia after coming on as a sub in the previous game.
Australia’s head coach Graham Arnold has a lot more concerns than his colleague from the opposing team, but he doesn't have a lot of quality players to choose from. The squad depth is Australia’s major problem, so Arnold will probably stick with the same starting XI from the last game against France. Mathew Leckie and Aaron Mooy will be the key players for the Australians.
Tunisia vs. Australia Betting predictions and odds
The bookies obviously saw enough from both teams in Round 1 and changed the odds drastically. Australia was a favorite before the World Cup started at 2.55 odds, but now the odds on them to win jumped up to 3.80, while on Tunisia’s victory, the odds dropped from 2.87 to 2.10. A draw can be backed at 3.10. When it comes to goals, Over 2.5 goals is at 2.25, while Under 2.5 goals is at 1.65.
Our best tip for Tunisia vs. Australia game
There is no doubt that Australia will display a much better performance in this game against Tunisia and that they will have an easier job, but that doesn't mean they will get a positive result. Tunisia missed several good chances against Denmark, but know they know they have to score and try to win because that’s going to be a lot harder to do against France in Round 3. The Socceroos will show that they deserve to be at this World Cup, but the Eagles of Carthage look like a better team, and we’re backing them to score multiple goals here.
